{"id":987,"date":"2012-09-14T11:53:02","date_gmt":"2012-09-14T11:53:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.controlpadblues.com\/?p=987"},"modified":"2012-09-14T11:53:02","modified_gmt":"2012-09-14T11:53:02","slug":"my-top-100-87-rock-band-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.controlpadblues.com\/?p=987","title":{"rendered":"My Top 100: #87 &#8211; Rock Band 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_991\" style=\"width: 363px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.controlpadblues.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/rb3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-991\" class=\"size-full wp-image-991\" title=\"rb3\" src=\"http:\/\/www.controlpadblues.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/rb3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"353\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.controlpadblues.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/rb3.jpg 353w, https:\/\/www.controlpadblues.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/rb3-211x300.jpg 211w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 353px) 100vw, 353px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-991\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">2010 &#8211; PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS (Harmonix, MTV Games)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There are only three of these rhythm games on my countdown, and they&#8217;re all on it for various reasons.\u00a0 <em>Rock Band 3<\/em> is on it because it is\u00a0the ultimate realization of the <em>Guitar Hero <\/em>dream.<\/p>\n<p>The dinky plastic drums had been around since the first game in the franchise, and downloadable track packs were now widely accepted as the new normal&#8230;\u00a0 but from the get-go, even before the first one came out, I thought a <em>Piano\\Keyboard Hero <\/em>game was a must.\u00a0 I wasn&#8217;t sure how it would be pulled off, or how ridiculous it might be, but it would be fantastic!<\/p>\n<p>Lo and behold, the keyboard peripheral was released alongside <em>RB3 <\/em>in late 2010, opening up a world of possibilities for downloadable content!\u00a0 Not only that, but my wife was now more\u00a0willing to play it with me!\u00a0 Whoo!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LR3U4b_fVBc\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As mentioned above, the setlists are greatly expanded, thanks to the inclusion of keys.\u00a0 Artists like Lady Gaga (you know, for when I play with my niece&#8230;), Queen,\u00a0Meat Loaf\u00a0and Fleetwood Mac\u00a0all joined in, along with countless 80&#8217;s and 90&#8217;s hits you&#8217;d never be able to play properly without some kind of keyboard.<\/p>\n<p>So,\u00a0taking into account\u00a0previous <em>Rock Band<\/em> setlists (which you can rip to your HD to avoid having to change games all the time) and downloadable tracks, you&#8217;re looking at about 1,500 songs to choose from (at the least)\u00a0on this game when playing at home, or rocking out at a party.\u00a0 That is somewhat insane.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0inclusion of Bonnie Tyler&#8217;s &#8220;Total Eclipse of the Heart&#8221; alone makes the game worth buying!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_990\" style=\"width: 648px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.controlpadblues.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/didhejust.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-990\" class=\"size-full wp-image-990\" title=\"didhejust\" src=\"http:\/\/www.controlpadblues.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/didhejust.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"638\" height=\"346\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.controlpadblues.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/didhejust.jpg 638w, https:\/\/www.controlpadblues.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/didhejust-300x162.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 638px) 100vw, 638px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-990\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8220;Did he just&#8230; no, no, he didn&#8217;t.
