I didn’t get to finish up my E3 posts like I intended to, but that’s no big deal.\u00a0 I figured I’d at least try\u00a0wrap it up before it was time to talk about E3 2014!<\/p>\n

1996<\/strong><\/p>\n

Remember when the Nintendo 64 control stick looked like this?<\/p>\n

Instead of\u00a0being “bowl-shaped” and way bigger than the average person’s thumb, Nintendo opted to go with the smaller (and more\u00a0blister-inducing) design we know and love today.<\/p>\n

2000<\/strong><\/p>\n

E3, GDC, Space World…\u00a0 it was all the same to me.\u00a0 Back in 2000, my main\u00a0focus was on my social life.\u00a0 I had just bought a brand new bass, and I was getting pretty deep into that whole thing.\u00a0 I didn’t have much time (i.e. didn’t MAKE much time) for video games.<\/p>\n

Still, I had\u00a0a channel called ZDTV, and X-Play<\/em> was a show that\u00a0reviewed and previewed new games.\u00a0 When I wasn’t watching MTV that summer, hoping to discover that next n\u00fc-metal band I’d become obsessed with, I\u00a0was watching\u00a0ZDTV.<\/p>\n

On a\u00a0cold and rainy day, as I waited for my very first road test for driver’s ed, I learned about Microsoft’s entry into the console market.\u00a0 That was big news!\u00a0 I mean, the tech demo they showed was somewhat weak, so I knew the console was doomed to failure (ha).\u00a0\u00a0It was big news, nonetheless.<\/p>\n
