on the end of it, and that&#8217;s it.\u00a0 <em>The Twin Snakes<\/em> not only had revamped graphics, but altered cutscenes, slight changes to improve game play, and completely re-recorded dialogue by almost all original voice actors.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_427\" style=\"width: 367px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.controlpadblues.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Ttsbox.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-427\" class=\"size-full wp-image-427\" title=\"Ttsbox\" src=\"http:\/\/www.controlpadblues.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Ttsbox.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"357\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.controlpadblues.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Ttsbox.jpg 357w, http:\/\/www.controlpadblues.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Ttsbox-214x300.jpg 214w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 357px) 100vw, 357px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-427\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">2004 - GameCube (Konami)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I wasn&#8217;t necessarily feeling\u00a0down in the dumps about the car accident, but I definitely\u00a0didn&#8217;t feel comfortable enough to get behind the wheel again for quite a while afterwards.\u00a0 I felt somewhat restricted as to what I could do that summer; hanging out with friends and going out for a night at the movies just wasn&#8217;t as\u00a0easy to do,\u00a0anymore.\u00a0 It\u00a0gnawed at my consciousness all summer long.<\/p>\n<p>Later that month, I went on the yearly family trip to Connecticut to see my aunt and uncle, and also to see a NASCAR race in Long Pond, Pennsylvania.\u00a0 For the long drives there and back, reading material was pretty much exclusively <em>EGM<\/em>, <em>Official PlayStation Magazine<\/em> and some other gaming magazines.\u00a0 The\u00a0main articles in all of them focused on the E3 held earlier that year, showcasing the upcoming Xbox and GameCube consoles.\u00a0 The PS2 had its own ace in the hole with <em>Metal Gear Solid 2<\/em>, a sequel to a game I&#8217;d often heard about, but knew almost nothing of.\u00a0 <em>MGS2 <\/em>looked so damn lovely, I had to give the first one a try.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, a couple weeks before my fresh new start at Saint Thomas University, I rented it.\u00a0 That same day, I had a meeting with folks at <em>The Brunswickan<\/em>, a campus\u00a0newspaper I was interested in contributing to.\u00a0 I&#8217;d be tasked with doing reviews of music CD&#8217;s, and I&#8217;d actually get to keep the ones I reviewed!\u00a0 That was a great deal, and reviewing video games had the exact same perk!<\/p>\n<p>Some guy with a cool German accent had dibs on reviewing\u00a0<em>MGS2<\/em>, however.\u00a0 Lucky guy.<\/p>\n<p>After the meeting, my friend John could probably tell I still wasn&#8217;t completely myself.\u00a0 He\u00a0suggested one last hangout at his place with the old high school crew, just to play games and joke around all night before we all\u00a0made the &#8220;official&#8221; move into life as post-secondary education students.<\/p>\n<p>When I got home that night, I popped <em>Metal Gear Solid<\/em> into\u00a0my PS2.\u00a0 To say the least, I was hooked pretty much right away, and I couldn&#8217;t wait to show it off to my friends that weekend.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/e2ZAx9RURQc\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1skErPIEu94\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OmKN65rgG_o\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s one specific change made to <em>The Twin Snakes<\/em> that smoothes out one painful quirk the PS1 version had; the addition of a first-person view for firing your weapon.\u00a0 In the middle of a boss battle, you could easily get a bit disoriented if you ran around enough.\u00a0 With the GameCube re-make, pressing the Z-button gave you\u00a0what\u00a0Solid Snake saw from his own eyes, and you could whip out your weapon for a quick and precise shot if you needed to. <\/p>\n<div style=\"position: absolute;
