Konami (Arcade, Super NES)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve already shared my more vivid memories about this game (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.controlpadblues.com\/?p=286\">two in one post, actually<\/a>), so let&#8217;s just talk about\u00a0the game for a change.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve mentioned it before, but the music in <em>Turtles in Time<\/em> is some of the best I&#8217;ve ever heard in\u00a0a game.\u00a0 No matter what console, no matter what epic orchestral soundtracks and big budget composers came after it, <em>TMNT4<\/em>&#8216;s music has stood the test of time.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t imagine it was too difficult to come up with chip tunes to fall under the &#8220;radical&#8221; or &#8220;tubular&#8221; moniker, but composer\u00a0Mutsuhiko Izumi managed to make them all sound like they had a place in the <em>Ninja Turtles<\/em> universe.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SCLt8NcDWaA\" height=\"360\" width=\"480\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Classic game remakes have been popping up left and right for the past few years, and naturally, <em>Turtles in Time<\/em> got\u00a0the treatment\u00a0with 2009&#8217;s <em>Re-Shelled<\/em> (released on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network).\u00a0 It added a fresh coat of 3D paint, brought back a few of the trademark attacks, and&#8230;&#8230;..\u00a0 that&#8217;s about it.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not sure what&#8217;s more disappointing with <em>Re-Shelled<\/em> &#8211; the fact that the stellar soundtrack from the original was completely ignored, or that the supposedly &#8220;improved&#8221; graphics were severely lacking in the colour department.\u00a0 I know they might have been aiming for something more realistic or gritty, but in a game about mutated turtles who learn Kung Fu from their similarly mutated rat master?\u00a0 Really?<\/p>\n<p>For serious?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2042\" style=\"width: 603px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.controlpadblues.com\/?attachment_id=2042\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2042\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2042\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2042\" alt=\"Sewer Surfin' and Prehistoric Turtlesaurus look pretty...  bland and foggy.\" src=\"http:\/\/www.controlpadblues.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/wheresthecolor.jpg\" width=\"593\" height=\"596\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.controlpadblues.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/wheresthecolor.jpg 593w, http:\/\/www.controlpadblues.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/wheresthecolor-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.controlpadblues.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/wheresthecolor-298x300.jpg 298w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 593px) 100vw, 593px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2042\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sewer Surfin&#8217; and Prehistoric Turtlesaurus look pretty&#8230; bland and foggy.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The only level that actually does look phenomenal is the Skull and Crossbones level on the pirate ship.\u00a0 That&#8217;s the only one that truly evokes that sense of nostalgia when playing the game, and if I&#8217;m not mistaken, was one of the main reasons they decided to remake the game in the first place!<\/p>\n<p>A missed opportunity, and a darn shame.<\/p>\n<p>That being said, if there was ever a re-release of the arcade original, I&#8217;d be all over that.\u00a0 Like white on rice.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2043\" style=\"width: 760px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.controlpadblues.com\/?attachment_id=2043\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2043\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2043\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2043\" alt=\"...or like green, orange, pink or yellow on rice.
