2002 – Nintendo (GameCube, Wii)<\/p><\/div>\n

Even though Metroid<\/em> was one of those Nintendo franchises that had been around for a long time, I never really got into any of them.<\/p>\n

I thought the first game was kinda cool,\u00a0although I never really had\u00a0enough of an attention span\u00a0at a young age to do some serious exploration, or to even\u00a0attempt to finish the game.\u00a0 Return of Samus<\/em> was a game I got after\u00a0buying into months of hype in Nintendo Power<\/em>, only to be greeted by bland environments and repetitive gameplay (although I did recently\u00a0discover that it’s a\u00a0fairly decent game, after all).<\/p>\n

Super Metroid<\/em> was an absolutely phenomenal game.\u00a0 It got rave reviews, lived up to an incredible amount of\u00a0hype, and was the pinnacle of the Action\\Adventure genre for quite a while.\u00a0\u00a0Many people believe it still is!\u00a0\u00a0And, with all that praise and excitement, I didn’t play a single minute of it.<\/p>\n

In about 2001 or so, I finally downloaded a rom of it to see what I had been missing, and was quite obviously blown away by it.\u00a0\u00a0Unfortunately, I had been jaded enough by Metroid II<\/em> to ignore Super Metroid<\/em> altogether when it was released, which was a damn shame.<\/p>\n

Samus Aran was going to be making the jump to 3D soon, and I wasn’t going to miss out on\u00a0the action\u00a0this time around.<\/p>\n
