is that they were across so many different platforms, I&#8217;m not really able to make a list for every console.\u00a0 It wouldn&#8217;t really feel right.<\/p>\n<p>That being said, here&#8217;s the best of the rest.\u00a0 From Sega Genesis to PC, to\u00a0PlayStation 1 and the Xbox 360, here are\u00a0my favourites of the bunch.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>10.\u00a0 <em>Syphon Filter <\/em>(PS1) &#8211; Rhoemer&#8217;s Stronghold<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JX11aePxAfs\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I think what makes this song memorable is actually the level that it plays in.\u00a0 Within the walls of a creepy old cathedral, Logan sneaks around to this music.\u00a0 It creeped me out back in the day, and I am greatly looking forward to going back to play this game, some day.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>9.\u00a0 <em>Super Mario 64 <\/em>(N64) &#8211; Dire, Dire Docks<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GBPbJyxqHV0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Of all the things that truly got me excited about <em>Super Mario 64<\/em>, it was actually the bleak setting for the Dire, Dire Docks level.\u00a0 It wasn&#8217;t a happy-looking place, and the music had that mellow underwater feel to it&#8230;\u00a0 it showed what could be done when 3D graphics came together with music to set a truly unique atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>8.\u00a0 <em>Metroid Prime <\/em>(GameCube) &#8211; Space Pirate Battle<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RdebQ-y15Dg\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Most of the music in <em>Prime <\/em>fits perfectly with the environments Samus finds herself in.\u00a0 When the proverbial poo-poo hits the fan and Space Pirates attack her from all sides, this tune has me calmly humming along through the craziness as I blast their hides into oblivion.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>7.\u00a0 <em>Mortal Kombat II <\/em>(Arcade) &#8211; Prologue: The Battlefield<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0V36WhNC8vA\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>One of the things that always\u00a0impressed me the most about arcade cabinets was the sound that came from them.\u00a0 Sure, the graphics always looked nice, but the way they cranked those sound effects, and the music&#8230;\u00a0 man.\u00a0 So great.\u00a0 I&#8217;d start playing other games in the arcade, but <em>MKII<\/em> had this epic &#8220;attract mode&#8221; music that always sucked me right back in.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>6.\u00a0 <em>Sonic the Hedgehog 2 <\/em>(Genesis) &#8211; Emerald Hill<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6vaBxXCH9b8\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not sure why, but long before I chose to play the bass guitar, my ear was always trained to\u00a0focus on\u00a0the bass line in a song.\u00a0 Instead of the melody, I&#8217;d always hum the bass line.\u00a0 Weird.\u00a0 In any event, this is one of my favourites to hum along to, whenever I borrowed someone&#8217;s Genesis.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0 <em>Half-Life 2 <\/em>(PC) &#8211; CP Violation<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UlQRyuKSsFc\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>City 17 is a creepy place&#8230;\u00a0 but when you&#8217;re walking down that railway tunnel and this techno-ey\u00a0two-note tune comes on, you just want to start dancing.\u00a0 Well, after disposing of some flaming fuel canisters and angry guards, of course.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0 <em>Doom <\/em>(PC) &#8211; Episode 1, Mission 1<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BSsfjHCFosw\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I can still picture\u00a0our old\u00a0one-piece 486 computer.\u00a0 It had those tinny speakers on each side of the &#8220;base&#8221;, just below the screen, and the volume controls were up and down buttons, not turnable knobs&#8230;\u00a0 so the sound was either on pretty loudly, or not on at all.\u00a0 Annoying for most things, but I liked the music and sound\u00a0in that shareware version of\u00a0<em>Doom<\/em> enough to crank it anyway.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0 <em>Super Street Fighter II <\/em>(Arcade) &#8211; Vega Stage<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gH7QgkvZYns\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>You know, I&#8217;m still not sure who is who (canonically) in the <em>Street Fighter <\/em>series.\u00a0 M.
